GIOVANNI, Lockdown Day 319
How has Covid-19 affected you?
I am no longer able to go to work as a hairdresser, which has impacted my finances. As I’m over 70 I have to be a lot more careful so can’t socialise or see my family.
What lessons has Covid-19 taught you so far?
I have learnt to look after myself a lot more and be thankful that I am still very healthy at my age and try and keep it that way! I have also learnt that not working can actually be enjoyable so I am finally thinking of retiring after more than 50 years.
Who do you live with?
I live on my own but my family phone me every day so I do not feel lonely.
What do you miss the most?
I miss socialising and seeing my family. I really enjoyed going to live music concerts and listening to sessions at pubs, hopefully we can again soon.
Tell me a bit about your current situation
Currently I have had my first covid vaccination jab from Pfizer and I am eagerly awaiting my second dose! My family bring me shopping and home-made food every day because I still do not go out and I am shielding myself. I have taken solace in playing my guitar, which I play every day now and have started to create my own songs, including one for the NHS.
